  • Led Intermediate for All: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Further discussion / Q&A: 45 minutes

This workshop is for anyone who practices Ashtanga yoga, whether you want to deepen your existent practice or wants to start introducing Intermediate series into your practice but face limitations. Adam's aim is to address all levels of practitioner.

The morning starts with a visual breakdown of the poses and how to find the work in them/adapt them to your current ability.  We will look at the correct vinyasa and details that you might be missing, as well as how to modify the postures so you can do ‘your version’ of it when needs be.

Next, we will run through this in a les class where you will get to do the postures in the way they manifest for our body. Lastly, we meet up for a further trouble shooting and discussion on the day and any unresolved questions or other things that have come up.

In the 1970s all students who visited Mysore learned primary and intermediate series together as one; they complement one another. Primary is about the exhale breath and forward folds, Intermediate about the inhale breath and back extension. Adam believes that they all of these asanas should be available in some for to all students.

Adam has been a yoga practitioner since 1999 and has taught Ashtanga yoga internationally for over twenty years. His style is open, non-dogmatic and eclectic while remaining rooted in an appreciation of the benefits of the method of ashtanga as he learnt it in Mysore, India.

In 2012 he completed the Advanced A sequence with Sharath who granted him authorization to teach.  Adam meets all students where they are, hopefully, with humour, kindness and inspiration, holding a safe and supportive space for personal enquiry. Equally at home teaching all levels, he gives all students attention and interest. He is democratic in his approach and kind and believes that the practice should not feel like a test.

Coming from an academic background in philosophy and a professional one as a chef, he is knowledgeable, practical, and relatable in his approach. Many consider him humorous too.

Adam and his wife Theresa run the online yoga platform Keen on Yoga and he hosts the Keen on Yoga Podcast interviewing many of the world’s most renowned Ashtanga teachers and philosophical academics.
