Recording of the workshop with Darby “Anatomy Trains” was an expression coined by Thomas Myers in his eponymous book Myofascial Meridians for Manual and Movement Therapists. It’s revolutionised the way we relate to anatomy. In mapping the body through its fascial and myofascial linkages.
Darby has been deeply inspired in his teaching by these ideas that see a connection throughout the whole of the body. Understanding this allows you to build up complex patterns of movement. By seeking interrelation between our component parts, as opposed to looking at them in isolation.
These connections also entail certain trigger-points, meridians, or nadis, functioning as particular epi-centres of muscular-connection that demand particular attention. Hence we can map our energetic system in yoga quite reasonably over the top of this approach to anatomy, all under the heading of bandha which synergistically creates a whole.
Darby began his practice with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the master of Ashtanga Yoga. In 1979 he spent four years in Mysore, India. He is one of the few teachers worldwide who have attained the highest level of Ashtanga Yoga teaching accreditation of certification by Pattabhi Jois.
His teaching is dynamic and direct while giving students the essence of the energy of this yoga. His wisdom and warmth attract a vibrant community of students who are drawn to his humour, his attentive nature and his steadfast commitment to investigation in yoga.
Darby Anatomy Trains was recorded on Zoom in March 2021 and is 2 hours including Q&A
