Alex runs a yoga retreat for those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction in the Norwegian mountains. He was there which is where he was when Adam interviewed him, so excuse any small sound blips. 

This is just another incarnation of what has been a most remarkable life. Starting off as a national boxing champion in his teens he then became a professional ballet dancer. Finally discovering yoga and living in Mysore, India for many years, where he bought a house and completed a Masters in Sanskrit.

Alexander has been teaching Yoga around the world for over 20 years. In 2002, he became certified by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois from Mysore, India. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) developed the style of Vinyasa Yoga known as Ashtanga. Only 35 people worldwide have obtained the certification as Ashtanga teachers by Pattabhi Jois, Alexander being one of them. 

Alex regularly writes about Yoga and many of his articles have been published in leading, international journals about Yoga. He translated the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita to Norwegian.

Alex is both an advanced yoga asana practitioner, as well as a most knowledgeable yoga scholar. He was Certified in 2007 by Pattabhi Jois to teach the Ashtanga method.
