Mark and Jenny
We stopped in Penong and caught up with a friend I hadn’t seen in over 10 years (after a bit of phone confusion!). We had a great night with Jenny and Mark talking about old times and catching up. We met their son, Ryan, and saw how they lived on their farm in this relatively remote part of SA. I woke feeling a bit seedy, but after a slow morning we headed off to check out the famous surf spot, Cactus Beach. Notorious for it massive waves and sharks! We watched some very skilful locals make surfing look easy!
Body boarding at Berry Bay
Bypassing Eyre peninsular we drove to Edithburgh on the York Peninsular and stayed a week with our close friends Nicki and Steve and their sons Woody and Cooper. We had heaps of fun surfing, jetty jumping and helping them dress up the 'Surf and Tackle' shop ready for the Christmas holiday onslaught. This is always one of our favourite spots to come back to, we felt so relaxed and comfortable sharing great company. The beaches on York’s are as good or better than any we have seen! We had a great evening with Steve and Fiona Drewer and their boys, Connor and Mathew - 2nd cousins to Bryce and Tom I think? - it was fantastic to catch up with them and we enjoyed many laughs. We love Yorkes the familiarity and being among old friends feels like we are home.
